· She is apt to being overly formal when meeting new people (have the tendency to do something).
· She proved an apt worker (quick to learn).
What does likely mean?
Likely is an adjective or an adverb which means probable or promising.
For example:
· She’ll likely call in sick to work tomorrow (probable).
· She was a likely candidate for presidency (promising)
What’s the difference between apt and likely?
Apt means suitable in a given circumstance, have the tendency to do something or be quick to learn while likely means probable or promising.
For example:
· She is apt at picking the likely winners on game shows.
